Taxis,
local buses ... |

Krabi province has a great public
transport system. Along the coast and to islands,
ferries and water taxis operate. On land, open air
buses, converted pick up trucks, motorcycle taxis,
all relatively cheap (average 20 Baht for local
trips in Ao Nang Beach) run very efficiently and
regularly around Krabi town and the beach areas.

River
taxis, local longtail boats ... |
|

Krabi Town
Is one of the most important harbours of the
region. Besides long-tail boats, operating
regular services to small islands across the
Krabi River and to Railay and Phra Nang Beach,
fast ferries operate to Phi Phi Island, Jum
Island and Lanta Island.
Note:
Some services stop during the monsoon season
(May-October) and are substituted by a combined
bus and long-tail boat system which operates
from small harbours along the coast. If you don't
want to use this system, a private transfer is
the only choice for Lanta Island. The 2 car
ferries, which connect the island to the
mainland operate from 07:00 to 19:00. Transfer
time from Krabi about 2 hours.
Ao Nang.
Local "longtail" boats provide
a taxi service along the coast from Ao Nang
Beach (just go to the seafront) to Railay, Phra
Nang and Krabi town. Fares average around 20 -
30 Baht depending on your destination. The boats
offer regular services and are a great way to
get around. You can also catch the ferry service
from Krabi town to Ko Lanta and Phi Phi Island
and Phuket (via Phi Phi Island)

to Railey beach O/W 100B You can bargain
if you are a large group except with Railey group.
The
scheduled boats 100B is hard to find because
so many boats now go to Railey during high season.
But it must exist.
Look for boats for locals or ask locals waiting at
the pier. Last scheduled boat may leave from Railey
for Krabi at 14:30. |
