Tham Khlang, the Best o1 Asia's Beautiful Caves

• Best period of the day : All day long, but a guide needed as the cave system is quite extensive and complicated and the unitiated can easily get lost.

Ao Luk District of Krabi Province comprises a major limestone mountain range in Thailand, and is therefore the origin of numerous wonderful caves both explored and unexplored, believed to number in hundreds. The most spectacular is Tham Khlang, with unique characteristics as both land and sea caves. From the land cave, visitors can trek to

another side and canoe through the adjacent twin cave which is a dark cavity immersed in water. However, the beautiful stalagmites and stalactites can only be found in the land
cave, making up amazing diverse spectacles through the 13 cavities of about 1,200 meters deep. The highlights, apart from stalactites, are the stalagmites which can be found here more than anywhere else, as thousands of quartz tubes, or in coral shapes and the golden curtain of stalactites. There were talks among cavers that this could rank second in beauty in Asia.

• How to get there : From Ao Luk Intersection, follow Highway No. 4 towards Krabi province tor about 4 kilometers and take the right turn in front of Ban Nai Yuan Khaek School for another 2 kilometers.
